As I sit here in my room on the Gulf of Thailand, the scent of sweet jasmine filling the air and the sound of the ocean entering through my sliding door, my thoughts wander to 2 women I met this year.

Yesterday I returned from a portrait assignment in Siem Reap, a small city geared in large part to tourism. Due to the epic local remnants of Angkor culture, such as the numerous astonishing temples including Angkor Wat, it is a fascinating place which I was happy to visit again.

I visited the Harbour City Center here on the tip of Kowloon (Tsim Sha Tsui) where I was living – it’s a hyper luxury mall which faces the island of HK. It’s easily as big as two airports side by side.

I happily spent a good part of last year photographing destinations for Starwood Luxury Collection Hotels. I traveled to Europe, South America, Asia and the US to capture the people, landscapes, interiors and details that make each country unique. Charles H. Cecil is an American painter and art historian who has lived and worked in Florence since 1978. His studio in the San Frediano section of Florence, Italy bears his name, and is the oldest atelier in use in the city.

I spent a couple of hours shooting passers by in the Omotesando neighborhood of Tokyo. With the help of my guide, I approached people and asked if I could shoot them. One of my favorites is the shot of handsome Tetsuya surrounding by a group of school kids. As I was shooting him alone, a group of students passed with their teacher, and I pleaded with them to stop and join in the photo.

This is not my first time to the city; once I came for pleasure, and once I came to shoot a story for Departures Magazine about the culture and Argentina’s obsession with beef. I am eager to revisit some of the places I enjoyed most in the past like La Cabrera and Casa Cruz in Palermo, El Obrero, and Patagonia Sur owned by Francis Mallman.
